The Mind Mechanism (How to take immediate control over your life?)

Posted on Posted in Blog, Mind & Meaning, Success & Happiness

Have you ever wondered how our mind works? We all agree, our mind has unlimited capabilities! Most computational neuroscientists tend to estimate human storage capacity somewhere between 10 terabytes to 100 terabytes, though the full spectrum of guesses ranges from 1 terabyte to 2.5 petabytes. (P.S.  1 petabyte = 1,000 terabytes; 1 terabyte = 1 million megabytes)

According to one famous survey, human brains can retain up to 4.7 billion books. Our brain is considered faster than the fastest computer in the world. The human brain has about 100 billion neurons, each neuron fires (on an average) 200 times per second. And each neuron connects about 1,000 other neurons.

(…OMG!!! What is this man talking about? I can’t even imagine this!)

Now, after grasping this much of ‘official data’, I hope you would have understood how powerful our brain is? Now, let me ask you a question. Have you ever seen anyone who purchased an iPhone worth more than ₹73,000 and never used it simply because he/she didn’t figure out how? Yeah! I have seen a lot of such people.

Now, have you ever seen a person, who has a mind which is faster than the fastest computer in the world and can store and process millions of megabytes of data in just a fraction of seconds, never use it just because he/she didn’t figured out how? And then they waste their lives feeling overwhelmed by all small stuff, just because they don’t know how to use that 3 pound, gray lump, situated between two ears!

Yes! We daily see people feeling depressed, overwhelmed, annoyed, anxious, angry, frustrated etc. very much frequently, thereby, decreasing the quality of their lives they live and also making lives of others around them quite miserable. I mean, with such an incredible power between your ears, how can you ever feel negative emotions? That’s just because a lot of mass, never figure out how to use this 3 pounds gray lump.

Okay! So the question is,

What an incredible question! You just need to understand a simple mechanism to know how does your mind works!

“Your mind is like Google. It will give you, whatever you want from it.”

-Aditya Bhavsar

Yes! That’s all you need to know to control your focus (mind). “Wherever focus goes, energy flows!”

If you engage your mind in finding good reasons to feel overwhelmed, it will find tons of reasons why you should feel overwhelmed. At the same time, if you engage it to find great reasons to feel good, it will figure out a lot of reasons why you should feel awesome in this very moment!

So, the question here is, how to control our mind and take charge of it rather than allowing it to rule us?  Again, it all comes to the quality of questions we consistently ask from it! As I already said, mind is very much similar to google, it will give you whatever you want from it. For example, in google, if you search for ‘Benefits/Advantages of Alcohol’, what will it show? Will it show 20-30 pages all containing disadvantages of alcohol saying, ‘Alcohol is injurious to health and that you should never ever think of consuming it, even a bit.’ (Hahaha) Of course not! It will give you what you ask from it. If you searched for advantages of alcohol, it will surely show you lots and lots of pages containing blogs, articles; news reports etc. all aligned in one direction, showing advantages of alcohol and a lot of reasons why you should start consuming it right now!

And, at the same time, if you asked (searched) for ‘Disadvantages of Alcohol’, it will show you thousands and thousands of reasons, how it is injurious to health and why you should never ever consider a thought of consuming it even a bit!

I hope this makes sense to you! Now, let me explain the real mechanism and the scientific approach and how to immediately take control over mind and be a master of mind!

“Quality questions create a quality life”

-Tony Robbins

The equation is simple, more empowering questions you ask, more uplifting answers you get and the better is the quality of your life!

Though I’m immature at the bible, but there is a well-known quote of ‘Bible’.

Here is what it says,

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”

-Matthew 7:7 (The Bible)

Our questions are our answers! I have always been a guy who seeks for answers from nowhere. Till date, I have observed all legendary successful personalities all across the globe, in my quest to figure out the main difference between the ones who are ‘highly’ successful and the ones who are happily mediocre. The main difference between those who are successful and those who can never be successful is just the questions they ask themselves on a consistent basis.

“Some men see things as they are, and say, ‘WHY?’ I dream of things that never were, and say, ‘WHY NOT?’”

-George Bernard Shaw

Whatever you are today, it is just the result of the questions you have been asking yourself, now and then, again and again.

Mediocre people always keep on asking disempowering questions, ‘How can I never succeed?’and their mind is like, ‘Because, you are a donkey! Dumb! Stupid!’.

Instead, if you ask, ‘How can I succeed?’ Your mind will figure out ways and make plans to realize your goals!

But mediocre people… They keep on asking rubbish, disempowering questions to get worst answers. ‘How can I never lose weight?’ and their mind says, ‘Just because you are a PIG!’Instead, if you ask, ‘What is the best way I can lose weight?’ or ‘How can I lose weight and enjoy the process of losing weight?’ And your mind will be ready with answers, with which you will be able to enjoy the process of losing weight.

It’s all about questions and the way you communicate things to yourself. Questions determine how you interpret things and what things mean to us. Instead of asking, ‘What’s the use?’ what if you ask, ‘How can I use this to my benefit?’ There are always answers to questions you ask yourself. There is never a question with ‘no answers’ to it. You must have to guts to find an empowering answer which can really serve you, the answer which can make you better, rather break you to worse. We can literally transform our whole lives, by just changing the habitual questions we consistently ask ourselves.

Paraphrasing Mr. Robbins, “The questions you ask will determine where you focus, how you think, how you feel, and what you do.”

“Questions are the unquestioned commands to our mind.”

-Aditya Bhavsar

Let me leave you here repeating great lines from The Bible:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”
